Got 10 minutes of practical clinic wisdom to share? You don't need a formal research trial to submit an abstract for the 2026 SRFCFA Conference!

We know faculty and staff in student-run clinics are constantly innovating on the ground. We aren't looking for traditional research papers—we want to highlight the real-world operational wins, creative solutions, and proud moments that keep your clinic running.

If you’ve built something that works, your peers across the country want to hear about it!

🗣️ Simple Formats to Share Your Work

• 10-Minute Oral Talks or Panel Discussions: Perfect for sharing operational successes related to our theme, Transitions: Navigating Change, Sustaining Mission. Think:

  • A smooth student leadership onboarding process you designed.

  • How you secured dedicated faculty preceptor time or funding.

  • A clever workaround for maintaining clinic continuity over summer breaks.

• Poster Sessions: Open to ANY topic relevant to SRFCs (no theme restriction!). Show off a quality improvement (QI) initiative, a new patient workflow, or a community partnership victory.

🗓️ Final Deadline: Monday, August 31st

Presenting is also one of the easiest ways to secure travel approval and funding from your department chair or dean.

   1. Complete the conference registration form.

   2. Submit your membership dues ($100) and conference registration fee ($100): Pay here.

   3. Complete the membership survey if you have not yet.

Note this is separate registration from the Student conference, which takes place the day after ours!

Call for faculty to help review student presentations

From the Student President of the SSRFCC:

As we prepare for the SSRFC Annual Conference this October, we are offering an optional Presentation Review Program for students who have been selected to give oral presentations at the conference.

Through this program, student presenters will have the opportunity to give a virtual practice presentation prior to the conference and receive feedback from an SSRFC/FA leader. The goal is to help presenters refine their content, delivery, and timing and feel prepared for their conference presentation.

We are looking for faculty who would be interested in volunteering as reviewers. Reviewers would be paired with a student presenter and asked to attend a brief virtual practice session and provide constructive feedback. You will be able to schedule this independently with the student groups as you are able.

Help Map Diagnostic Imaging Access at SRFCs
Students at the Interprofessional Community Clinic are conducting a national survey on diagnostic imaging access at student-led free clinics across the U.S.

The survey looks at how clinics access radiology services, along with barriers clinics face in getting imaging completed for patients. Findings will help identify opportunities for collaboration, resource sharing, and advocacy for SRFCs nationwide.

The survey takes about 8-10 minutes and is completely voluntary. No patient data or individual clinic identifiers are collected; all responses are analyzed and reported in aggregate only.

The SRFCFA was represented at this year’s National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NAFC) Symposium in Washington DC, highlighting the extraordinary work being done across our national network!

Dr. Anjali Gupta Receives Inaugural Trailblazer Award

A massive congratulations to Anjali Gupta, MD, who was honored with the inaugural Patricia Holmes White Trailblazer Award! Dr. Gupta was recognized for her exceptional dedication, leadership, and impactful mentorship of students at the East Harlem Health Outreach Partnership (EHHOP) student-led free clinic. Her unwavering support of the next generation of healthcare leaders exemplifies the heart of the SRFC movement.

Featured Presentation: Cultivating the Safety-Net Leadership Pipeline: Developing Future Free Clinic Leaders through Structured Student Engagement.

SRFCFA leaders Jill Omori, MD (University of Hawaiʻi Hawaii H.O.M.E. Project) and Melissa Chen, MD (Rosalind Franklin University Interprofessional Community Clinic) took the stage to share an actionable framework for transforming health professions students into a high-impact workforce engine that expands clinic capacity and cultivates the future generation of health equity leaders. Their presentation will soon be available for SRFCFA members.
