To all faculty of SRFCs,
In March, we had another very successful annual meeting. A big thank you to those who worked on conference planning under the leadership of the Conference Chair, Dr. Michelle Mifflin. In total, 43 members had the opportunity to learn about many topics that are of collective concern to all of us - check out the presentations on our new website. This was also the first year for having a poster session. Thank you to all the presenters for being so transparent in sharing your successes as well as challenges. I have always said this is the best meeting to learn, grow and receive peer support in our efforts to advise, direct and/or lead student-run free clinics.
This next year will have many challenges for faculty involved in student-run free clinics. I along with the newly elected officers and committee chairs are here to help. This year we are making major changes to our website provide information about various topics of interest including information on telehealth, faculty development, syllabi, and research; some content will be available to members only. A big thank you to our Communications committee, chaired by Dr. Melissa Chen, for all their work on this project.
Our committees are busy making plans and goals for the upcoming year and it is not too late to get involved. Find a committee that interests you and reach out to the committee chair for information. If you know someone who is involved in student-run clinics but is not a current member, please reach out to them and encourage them to join the SRFCFA. Make plans to attend the annual meeting, which will be in Dallas, Texas in March 2021.
Thank you for allowing me to serve as President this year. I am looking forward to helping our organization continue to grow.
Respectfully,
Jonell
