RESOURCE HIGHLIGHT

Clinic Highlight

The Columbus Free Clinic is a student-run free clinic for adults associated with The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, with student leadership from Medicine, Social Work and Pharmacy. Each Thursday night, these three professions provide in-person and telehealth services. The Clinic also has regular specialty clinics providing psychiatry, physical/occupational therapy, women's health, and legal services.

Current endeavors: Updating governance documents; expanding specialty services (urology and dietetics); developing a program to train patients in the use of Naloxone through partnership with local Public Health Department (project started at University of Toledo-affiliated Free Clinic, expansion to Columbus Free Clinic began via conversation during poster presentation at SSRFC Conference, March, 2019).
Challenges: Covid-19 restrictions; space for expanded services; access to specialists; access to community mental health.
Unique Strengths: Multiple specialty clinics; collaboration with "Unity Fridge" for fresh produce for patients; legal clinic.
